The city will undertake a reconstruction project on the Mansion Street Bridge Over the Fall Kill Creek and will hold an information meeting and public hearing pursuant to the Eminent Domain Procedure Law at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, in the Common Council Chambers.

City Sets Public Hearing Regarding Mansion Street Bridge Project

The city has been awarded more than $750,000 through a New York State Department of State Local Waterfront Revitalization Program grant to address flooding and promote public access along the edges of the Fall Kill Creek.

Mayor Yvonne Flowers announced this week that $440,000 is being made available to community organizations through the city’s Youth Activities & Opportunities Grant Program.

The first phase of Dutchess County’s urban trail project in Poughkeepsie has been named after former Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro, who now is serving in Congress.

Thanks to a great team of Vassar's environmental thinkers, an Ecological Restoration Grant from Partners for Climate Action Hudson Valley has been secured for a watershed restoration project at the Preserve at Vassar.

Youth Leadership is an innovative, leadership development program designed to develop the academic, social and life skills of area youth. Students will have opportunities for substantive interaction with his or her peers, community based service organizations, institutions of higher education, and professionals from local industry. The program is open to incoming high school sophomore and junior students, and home school students, from Dutchess County.

The Poughkeepsie Community Action Collaborative (PCAC) successfully advocated on behalf of Poughkeepsie youth and families to increase the city's budget for youth programs to over $1,000,000. The PCAC is asking that you raise your voice again, this time by taking a short survey regarding your concerns and ideas for youth programs and services.

When complete, the project will create a trail network through the City of Poughkeepsie, repurposing railroads formerly used by the CSX rail transportation services company. Plans call for a trail network that would connect pedestrians and cyclists in the city and town to the Dutchess Rail Trail, Marist College, the Walkway Over the Hudson, the riverfront and other key points of interest. Its northern tip would stretch to the under-construction Hudson Heritage development in the town, theoretically giving residents an alternate route to the ShopRite there and other services.
