Mayor Flowers invites the public to join the city in making this year’s Juneteenth Citywide Celebration a memorable and meaningful event for us all.
Juneteenth holds profound importance in acknowledging the struggles, triumphs and cultural heritage of African Americans. It provides us with an opportunity to reflect on our shared history and promote unity, understanding and cultural appreciation within our community.
The mayor said the involvement of organizations would greatly enrich the celebration and contribute to the success of this planned two-day event.
That could include hosting an educational workshop about the significant of Juneteenth and its history and relevance, or setting up a cultural exhibit, displaying art, or providing food reflective of African American culinary tradition.
