Thanks to a great team of Vassar’s environmental thinkers, an Ecological Restoration Grant from Partners for Climate Action Hudson Valley has been secured for a watershed restoration project at the Preserve at Vassar.
The project will restore a riparian, or stream-side, buffer along a tributary of the Casperkill at the front of the Preserve. The grant includes funding for native tree and shrub plantings, which will support plant, animal, and pollinator biodiversity, improve natural drainage, and increase water quality in the stream by reducing erosion, sedimentation, and runoff.
