The Junction (164 Garden Street) is where community-generated ideas can come to life.
Past
An industrial past
With its proximity to a now-defunct railroad line, this location has a long history of industrial uses including a coal elevator, an oil depot, and eventually the Harmon & Castella printing company. Frank Castella sold the company in 2018 and the building was empty until 2020, when Northside Junction LLC — a subsidiary of The Scenic Hudson Land Trust — purchased it to become a space for community-driven projects.

Enhancing the well-being of the Northside
The Junction (164 Garden Street) is where community-generated ideas can come to life. Guest Artist Chloe Mosbacher collaborated with youth artists from The Art Effect's Media/Art/Design Lab (MADLab) workforce program during the summer of 2025 to create public art that celebrates the biodiversity (variety of plant and animal life) of the Fall Kill Creek. MADLab engages teens ages 14 to 19 from the City of Poughkeepsie and helps them develop life and workforce skills in the growing arts and media sectors. The mural collages original illustrations by MADLab youth artists. It honors the rich ecological life of the creek — from turtles and owls, to rare plants and butterflies — and invites the community to observe and protect the natural world woven through our city.
