Juneteenth aims to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and celebrate the rich cultural heritage and contributions of the Black community.
This celebration encourages unity, education, and empowerment through various activities, performances, and collaborations with local businesses.
The Juneteenth parade in the City of Poughkeepsie starts at 12:30 p.m. Lineup begins at 11:30 a.m. at Marshall & Sterling Parking Lot, 110 Main St. (& S. Perry St.), Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
The parade will proceed down Main Street to the Memorial Marker, a memorial to honor the hidden histories of enslaved Africans and their descendants in Poughkeepsie and the Hudson Valley.
