Mayor Flowers invites the public to join the city in making this year’s Juneteenth Citywide Celebration a memorable and meaningful event for us all.
This two-day event will bring together organizations, businesses, and individuals to honor this important day through various educational workshops, cultural exhibits, art fairs, and culinary experiences. Mayor Flowers said the involvement of organizations would greatly enrich the celebration and contribute to its success.
Juneteenth holds profound importance in acknowledging the struggles, triumphs, and cultural heritage of African Americans. It provides us with an opportunity to reflect on our shared history and promote unity, understanding, and cultural appreciation within our community.
“Your participation will not only contribute to the success of the celebration but also demonstrate your organization’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and community engagement,” Mayor Flowers said.
If you or your organization is interested in participating on Saturday, June 15th and/or Sunday, June 16th, please provide specific details on how you intend to contribute no later than Wednesday, May 15th.
Once all participating businesses and organizations submit the details of their contributions for Saturday, June 15th, an event map showcasing all activities occurring throughout the city will be available to everyone ahead of the celebration. Stay tuned for further updates as we prepare for this exciting celebration!
