Un pasado industrial
Por su proximidad a una vía de trenes abandonada, la larga historia de este terreno cuenta de usos industriales como un montacargas para carbón, un depósito de aceite y, con el tiempo, la imprenta Harmon & Castella. Frank Castella vendió la compañía en 2018, tras lo cual el edificio permaneció vacío hasta 2020, cuando Northside Junction, LLC — filial de The Scenic Hudson Land Trust — lo adquirió a fin de crear un espacio para proyectos dirigidos por la comunidad.

Guest Artist Chloe Mosbacher collaborated with youth artists from The Art Effect's Media/Art/Design Lab (MADLab) workforce program during the summer of 2025 to create public art that celebrates the biodiversity (variety of plant and animal life) of the Fall Kill Creek. MADLab engages teens ages 14 to 19 from the City of Poughkeepsie and helps them develop life and workforce skills in the growing arts and media sectors. The mural collages original illustrations by MADLab youth artists. It honors the rich ecological life of the creek — from turtles and owls, to rare plants and butterflies — and invites the community to observe and protect the natural world woven through our city.

Located at the intersection of the Dutchess Rail Trail, the Northside Line, Walkway Over the Hudson, the Fall Kill Creek, and Scenic Hudson’s future office hub — The Junction will be home to a series of pop up events inspired by local community to enhance the long-term stability, economy, and well-being of Poughkeepsie’s Northside neighborhood.
